Canada federal corporation verification

Check a Canadian federal corporation through Corporations Canada

Verify an exact federal Corporation Number or 9-digit Business Number through the official ISED Federal Corporation API.

SENTINEL routes an exact Corporation Number or 9-digit Business Number to Corporations Canada, the federal corporate registry administered by Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada. Returned legal identity and status remain source-attributed.

Verification workflow

A controlled route from identifier to evidence.

  1. 01

    Choose Canada — Federal

The workspace makes the federal scope explicit before the identifier is submitted.

  2. 02

    Enter an exact federal identifier

Use a Corporation Number such as 000100-7 or the 9-digit Business Number returned for the federal record.

  3. 03

Review the official record and scope

Inspect legal name, federal status, governing act, registered office and returned filing facts without inferring tax status.

Evidence guide

What this check means in practice.

01

Which identifiers are supported?

Use an exact federal Corporation Number or 9-digit Business Number (BN9). A 15-character CRA program account is not accepted in this workflow.

02

What can the federal record confirm?

When returned, the record can confirm legal name, Corporation Number, BN9, federal legal status, governing act, registered office, formation activity and annual-return facts.

03

Can I search by company name?

Not in the current automated provider. An optional legal name is compared conservatively with the exact record returned for the identifier.

04

What does federal not found mean?

No matching record was found in Corporations Canada. The entity may still be registered only in a provincial or territorial registry.
